Business Development Manager

 

Boundless Impact Research & Analytics (Boundless) is seeking a Business Development Manager with an environmental background and experience with business development, sales and marketing of information services or market intelligence.

The role will involve developing an existing pipeline of customers and expanding the customer base for a fast-growing environmental analytics firm, whose current customers include cleantech companies and investors.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-changing start-up environment, is comfortable experimenting with a variety of business development and communication strategies, and is eager to establish new metrics for success. This individual will also interface directly with existing and prospective members to source feedback and build more community activity.

This role will involve collaborating closely with the leadership team and the research team to identify and document business leads, assist in drafting and writing proposals, and drive sales of our impact assessments and data platforms..

Boundless is an industry research and environmental impact analytics firm that provides objective and actionable information to move investment dollars more quickly toward clean technologies and climate solutions. Our science-based, data-driven approach is grounded in the proven methodology of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). The scores and metrics derived are trustworthy and reliable because they are unbiased and validated by external industry and/or scientific experts. Boundless has the capabilities to perform rapid (and screening) LCA, LCA consistent with ISO 14040, and Scope 1,2,3 emissions inventories.

We are rapidly expanding as we extend our environmental impact analytics to a growing customer base of investors, companies, and large institutions. We are also developing online data platforms for our company and investor subscribers, to provide access to our climate impact scores, reports and analytics, and industry benchmarks. Responsibilities

  • Business Development strategy and execution:

    • Business Development strategy and implementation in close partnership with the leadership team, including developing and directing revenue generation strategy through membership, research, and expert advisory services.

    • Achieve revenue targets and provide analysis and market intel to senior leadership.

    • Develop and own your sales pipeline for both impact assessment sales and recurring data subscription sales.

    • Own the full business development funnel, from lead generation to negotiation, closing deals, account management and upsell.

    • Closes new business deals by coordinating requirements; developing and negotiating contracts; and integrating contract requirements with business operations.

  • Account management:

    • Manage membership program for our data platforms subscribers, from new prospect intake through to ongoing member communications.

    • Nurture and upsell existing customer base. Support marketing and engagement strategy.

  • Know the market, grow your pipeline:

    • Refine and implement online business development strategy through website, media, and other social media vehicles. 

    • Think creatively to build relationships with relevant stakeholders and identify decision makers within target organizations.

    • Builds market position by locating, developing, defining, and closing business relationships.

    • Develop relationships with customers, prospects, and key industry stakeholders.

    • Identifies trendsetter ideas by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements.

    • Locates or proposes potential business deals by contacting potential partners.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5 years of relevant work experience in a business development or sales position. Experience with online platform / SaaS sales preferred.

  • Experience with ESG data and analytics, particularly environmental impact measurement metrics and reporting.

  • Experience with developing and closing revenue targets and building new streams of business.

  • Interest in building relationships with investors, companies, entrepreneurs, cleantech investors.

  • Strong communication skills via phone and email with a natural conversational tone.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment with demonstrated experience in new process implementation preferred.

  • Proficient with Hubspot or other CRM software

  • Able to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.

The candidate will have a high level of responsibility. They will play a critical role in shaping the business development operations of Boundless, with opportunities for professional growth within the company.

ABOUT THE POSITION

  • This position is a full-time position.

  • Location: NYC, hybrid 4 days/week in office (Monday-Thursday).

  • Travel: candidate will need to travel to and attend conferences/events a few times per year.

  • Salary range: On-Target Earnings is up to $150,000 per year, with a base salary $70,000 - $85,000 per year plus commission. The final salary offer will be based on qualifications, job-related skills, and relevant experience.
