Impact Assessment for Marrone Bio Innovations BIOst® Nematicide
With factors such as a growing population expected affect demand for food, pest management products are increasingly important to securing food supply. Many pesticides have proven to be hazardous to the environment, threatening biodiversity, as well as the health of farmers working closely with these products.
Marrone Bio Innovations (MBI) uses naturally occurring microorganisms to develop effective and environmentally responsible bio-based products that address plant health solutions, manage weeds, and fight pest and plant diseases in a broad range of crops. One of MBI's sustainability goals is to produce environmentally responsible products for pest management that enables customers to mitigate environmental concerns.
We have completed an Impact Assessment on two of their products:
Venerate® XC - a microbial-based biopesticide effective against a wide variety of chewing and sucking insects, as well as against mites. [Updated August 2021]
BIOst® Nematicide - an innovative broad-spectrum seed treatment nematicide with activity on eggs and juveniles of early season nematodes and against soil-dwelling insect pests. [Published September 2021]
