Forget Fossil Fuels - Alternative Energies Transforming the Waste-to-Fuel Industry
It’s no secret that burning fossil fuels hurts humans and our environment. By 2025, air pollution from oil and gas production is expected to cause over 2,000 premature deaths annually in the U.S. and worsen respiratory issues. Coal-fired power plants, which still operate at over 241 locations in the U.S., produce 42% of toxic mercury emissions, poisoning clean air.
Waste-to-energy facilities, which process garbage into usable fuel, are set to tackle the two billion tons of trash generated annually around the world, and mitigate the negative effects of fossil fuels. These facilities can process up to 40,000 tons of waste per year, and reduce CO2 emissions by 76.5%. Waste-to-energy facilities also reduce water consumption and retain 80% of usable energy from processed waste.
This webinar discusses developments in the waste-to-fuel industry, and how new technologies are dramatically transforming the market. Speakers include Principal Sustainability Engineer Monica Sowders, Citron Energy CEO Herbert Case, and Boundless Senior Research Analyst Andreas van Giezen.
