Paul Holthus

Paul Holthus is the World Ocean Council’s Founding President & CEO.

The Honolulu-based group brings together ocean industries to support improved business operations and what they call “Corporate Ocean Responsibility.” Paul’s experience ranges from working with the heads of global companies, industry associations and U.N. agencies to working with fishers in small island villages.

He has worked in over 30 countries, mostly Asia, the Pacific, Central America and West Africa. Paul works with ocean industry leaders, investors, UN agencies, international NGOs, foundations and scientists on sustainable ocean development. 

Paul graduated from the University of California and the University of Hawaii, specializing in coastal/marine resources and international business. He’s an East West Center alum and a Fulbright scholar.
