Dr. Leticia Socal

Chemist, with a PhD in Materials Science, I spent most of my career in the plastic industry. I know all the benefits of plastic and its uses and, I also understand the environmental impact of materials. I moved from Brazil to the US in 2012, and spent 7 years in Philadelphia (Go Eagles!) before moving to Atlanta with my husband and 2 daughters.

I decided to shift my career towards sustainability when I moved to Atlanta in 2019. I am currently working on Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) of different chemical processes and products. I also advise sustainability-focused startups and accelerators globally, and I absolutely love organizing environmental education activities in my kid’s school, as you can see in some of the programs listed here. Most recently, I joined the Citizen Science Association (CSA) and the National Reusables Network (Upstream).

I’m a certified TRUE zero-waste advisor and am currently engaging in consulting opportunities to help companies achieve their zero-waste goals. I am interested in leveraging my skills to drive real change in consumption patterns, helping to create a zero or lower-waste economy.
