Research & Business Associate

Boundless is seeking a Research & Business Associate with proposal writing, environmental analysis and research experience to provide critical administrative and business development support, and also contribute to our research work. This role will focus primarily on operational support for business development activities, grant/proposal writing, and administrative functions, while also assisting with our Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and/or Techno-Economic Analysis (TEA) research work. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and writing skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. They will work closely with Boundless research and business development teams.

The scores and metrics derived are trustworthy and reliable because they are unbiased and validated by external industry and/or scientific experts. Boundless has the capabilities to perform rapid (and screening) LCA, LCA consistent with ISO 14040, and Scope 1,2,3 emissions inventories.

Boundless has completed assessments of dozens of cleantech products and projects —ranging from renewable energy, circular economy, HVAC and disinfection technologies, bioenergy and bioproducts, and innovative water and wastewater technologies. Our services include Life Cycle Assessment, Techno-Economic Analysis, Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Footprint projections, and GHG Scenario Analysis, all designed to help companies validate their performance, mitigate risks, differentiate their products, and attract investment.

Responsibilities

Proposal Writing, Business Development & Administrative Support

  • Researching prospective customers and drafting proposals and correspondence with them.
  • Explore and identify government contract opportunities, compose proposals, and write submission papers.
  • Organize and maintain sales leads, plan outreach campaigns, and manage CRM platforms.
  • Provide operational and administrative support across business functions.
  • Attend project calls and respond to customer questions, demands, and needs.
  • Maintain organized documentation and operational systems.

Research Support

  • Assist with researching, developing, and maintaining a repository of environmental and financial impact metrics.
  • Undergo training on LCA and TEA as part of conducting Boundless Environmental Impact Analysis.
  • Draft company reports based on research findings.
  • Support Boundless documentation through PowerPoint presentations and technical reports.
  • Understand and conduct data analysis and statistical modeling.
  • Attend project calls and respond to customer questions, demands, and needs.

The candidate will be a key contributor to business growth while being involved in all aspects of project work and customer engagement, and help make an important contribution in environmental sustainability. They must readily take initiative, anticipate business and customer needs, and consistently follow through on tasks. They must also be resourceful and be able to handle numerous tasks simultaneously. They will be expected to prepare various written deliverables, prioritize, meet deadlines, and work well with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related academic qualifications. Business minor and/or relevant business experience a must-have.
  • Exceptional writing skills with demonstrated ability to produce high-quality business and technical content quickly.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with a proven business acumen.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
  • Experience in quantitative data analysis and statistical modeling.
  • Experience doing literature review and extracting relevant information from scientific publications.
  • Able to manipulate large, complex data sets using SPSS, SAS, or Excel.
  • A critical thinker with attention to detail and the ability to visualize data.
  • A team player who can collaborate across a diverse team and is comfortable in a startup environment where everyone is expected to operate outside their job function when required.
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • General interest in clean technologies and markets.
  • Positive attitude.

  • The salary range for this position is $48k-$58k per year.
