Horacio Aguirre-Villegas

Horacio Aguirre-Villegas is a Scientist with more than 15 years of experience conducting research and applied work at the intersection of climate change, energy, waste management, agriculture, and circularity. He has extensive experience evaluating renewable energy systems and waste management technologies to increase environmental sustainability. Horacio has experience implementing process-based models, IPCC methods, life cycle assessment and technoeconomic assessment to evaluate environmental and economic outcomes from a variety of products and industries.
Horacio has provided expert advice for national and international climate change reports and successfully translated the results of research into reports and factsheets to inform wider audiences outside of academia. Horacio holds a B.S. in Industrial Management from the Bolivian Catholic University in La Paz, Bolivia, an MS in Industrial Management from Chemistry Institute of Sarria in Barcelona Spain, and a Ph.D. in Biological Systems Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, in the US.
